ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES MEN’S LACROSSE COACH

ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Rosemont College Athletic Department has named Brian Zusi the head coach for the men’s varsity lacrosse program. "I'm extremely honored and humbled to be the first head coach in Rosemont lacrosse history,” said Zusi.  “It has been my goal for a couple of years to become a college coach and to be able to take the next step in my career is exciting. I'm grateful to Lynn Rothenhoefer and the entire search committee for having the faith in me to bring me on board."

Zusi comes to Rosemont after serving as the head men’s varsity lacrosse coach for Millburn High School in Millburn, N.J. Since starting there in 2005, Zusi has helped to develop three Academic All-Americans, nine All-State Players and dozens of All-Conference players. In addition, his squad has maintained a 100 percent graduation and college acceptance rate during his tenure.

“My previous coaching experiences have run the gamut,” Zusi said. “I've been both an offensive and defensive coordinator and as a head coach, I have to take on more responsibilities in the overall team. I think the experience of having a hand in all the aspects of lacrosse program will help with starting the program at Rosemont."

In addition, Zusi is among the first coaches to be certified a Level 2 Coach by U.S. Lacrosse, the national governing body of lacrosse. 

Zusi is a graduate of Hofstra University in New York. While there, he was the co-founder and president of the Hofstra Lacrosse Club. He graduated in 2001 with a B.A. in Communications. 

Professionally, Zusi is a Stage Manager for the Fox Business Network in New York City.

The men’s lacrosse program will not compete until the 2011-12 school year, but Zusi will spend the rest of this year and next focusing on recruiting efforts.

"My recruiting plan is to get out on the trail right away and find the best young men we can find,” said Zusi.  “It will take a special player to come to Rosemont; being at the forefront of a new program and creating a winning tradition is something few other schools can offer right now. We are looking for players who are not only ready to play right away, but have the character to take on the unknown."

"I'm very confident that we will be very successful in starting this endeavor,” added Zusi. “I will have almost 2 years to put a program in place, so the lacrosse program has a lot to live up to. I feel that we are going to have a fun, challenging and rewarding experience leading up to the first game in Rosemont history."
