ROSEMONT, Pa. (02/03/2011) - The Rosemont community took some time tonight to recognize the contributions that their student-athletes make to their sport, their school and to their community at Student-Athlete Appreciation Night at Alumnae Hall. Student-Athletes must tackle the work that is required in the classroom while taking on the huge burden of time and effort that comes with being a member of one or more athletics teams. Many of Rosemont's student-athletes also participate in outreach initiatives to the community and are ambassadors for Rosemont and our athletics program. The event featured recognition of all student-athletes in all sports with souvenir gifts provided to student-athletes by Rosemont President Sharon Hirsch and Dean of Students Deidre Shaffer. The event offered a fun mix of free food, games, raffle tickets and a Best Seat in the House, enabling two students to invite two friends to sit at a couch to watch each game from mid-court. There were two entertaining games on the court surrounding the festivities. Rosemont's women's basketball team defeated Cedar Crest College, 67-59. In the nightcap of the doubleheader the men's team were defeated by Rowan University, 62-54.
