ROSEMONT MEN’S SOCCER HOLDS KICKS FOR CANCER EVENT

ROSEMONT. – The Rosemont College men’s soccer team in conjunction with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society sponsored a ‘Kicks for Cancer’ campaign this past October. “The Kicks for Cancer event was a great opportunity for our men's soccer team,” said Head Coach Will Nord. “We were able to give back to the community and raise money for a great organization such as The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.”

Players from the Rosemont squad and local youth soccer players took pledges for every touch made they made on a soccer ball in two weeks, including practices and games. The goal was to get 2,000 touches, which they did successfully.

 “Our goal of 2,000 touches over a two week period and raising pledges for the total amount of touches was a great way to raise awareness about cancer and what good The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society does for cancer research,” added Nord. “We don't have an exact figure yet - but it is safe to say that we raised over $4,000.”

The campaign culminated on Friday October 30^th when the team invited all participants of the campaign to its home field for fun festivities including skills contests and fun drills. 

“It was a very successful event,” Nord said. “The players and participants had a lot of fun and we raised money for a great cause. I am very happy that our men's team participated in this.”

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. Its mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
